Observations/ Sketches pt. 3 Figures

Ok so these are some of the stereotypical figurative depictions on newsprint: black and white charcoal images positioned and lit strategically to allow a study on the figure while still incorporating the elements of line, value, composition and proportion. I love figures, I love to study how movement can be exaggerated through line. Body language is important and since we are constanly in motion quick gestures are what appeal to me the most. However, I do not oppose a nice long pose after I warm up.

Intrigued by line I continued my study of the figure no longer on a big scale but in my little moleskine sketchbook soley using pen while I contour the figure. The sketches vary from gestures to long poses- from singular contours to compilations- only to catch the space and movement.

Spring Final:

These are scanned contours from my sketchbook altered using photoshop for my final in figure. I also scanned in paint swatches, clothing patterns and various materials to create the numerous layers.
